John Kime
Preferring to work in mixed media at this point in his career, John is able to incorporate
various elements that give his work a unique texture and complex composition. John explains his use of
this medium best, “In my paintings, I want to break the barrier between painting and sculpture. Through
the use of texture and color I form a vision of the third dimension. I find myself coming up with ideas
which can only be realized through the building up of layer upon layer of paint and texture; finally, I impose structure on
the canvas, creating a surface which is both sculptural and dimensional”.

John D. Kime was born 9-11-67 in Phoenix, Arizona and has lived in the
southwest all his life. His profound attachment to the landscape and history of the area is evident in
his painting and sculptural work. However, after 40 years in the Southwest John grew restless for a new
environment and the Northwest became his new home. “The textures and colors of the Pacific Northwest brought on an eruption
of inspiration. This fresh experience lights my brush with a fury I have never felt before.”
At
the start of his career, John gained experience as a marketer and exhibition director for an internationally renowned fine
art gallery. During his nearly 22 years of working with artists and art buyers the impetus grew to create
and John chose to embark upon his own career in painting. John has found his voice and developed his own
visual language with paint and canvas, later expanding into mixed media and sculpture. His courage to following
his heart has brought him great success and happiness through a variety of venues for over 22 years.
